Under the ownership of one family for 51 years, our Plymouth wagon spent its entire time on Martha’s Vineyard Island in Massachusetts. It was the families’ summer car used only between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year recording only 52 K miles over the 51 years. Fortunately, the car was stored properly each year at a local garage where it sat through the winter months. It was put back in service at the beginning of each summer. The car was used for trips to the grocery store, post office and beach traveling slightly less than 1000 miles each summer.
Our Plymouth now is in weekend and holiday use in Carmel, California where it makes short trips around the village and carries our two Golden Retrievers to the beach. As it reached 63 years of age, it has just turned to 60,000 miles. It is quite the celebrity around town. With its vintage travel stickers and wood roof rack, it may be the most photographed car in Carmel. Recently our car was the featured photograph among Ferrari’s and other exotics in SCM magazine’s “Vintage Cars Spotted on The Monterey Peninsula.”
